Dr. Gates has over 34 years of experience as a teacher and has been a secondary school administrator for 22 years. For eight years he was the director of the Philosophy of Science and Mathematical Logic concentration at Brown University. He also taught at Rutgers University and at Shanxi University in China. He has coached basketball and soccer, led five soccer teams to state championships and won the SCISA coach of the year award in 2006. Dr. Gates has spoken at several international academic conferences and published essays on the philosophy of language and the philosophy of science.
He has taught Geometry, Pre-calculus, Calculus and Computer Coding, along with Algebra I-II, Ancient History, Senior Seminar, Physics and co-curricular classes in conjunction with Coastal Carolina on Logic and the introduction to Philosophy.
