Testbooks for fall 2019:

The Norton Anthology of English Literature 8th Edition, by M. H. Abrams (Author), Stephen Greenblatt (Editor), etc.

ISBN-13: 978-0393928297, ISBN-10: 0393928292

Used copies of this book are available on Amazon for around five dollars. Students MUST have this book and will be assigned daily reading in this book.

NOTE: It is VERY important to make sure the book you buy is not just Volume 1, 2, or 3, because this anthology has been broken up for use in college classrooms that focus on more limited time periods. The one-volume set I’m using is called “The Major Authors” and covers British literature from Beowulf through the 20th century. Also, you don’t have to use the 8th edition, and the 7th and 6th editions, or the 9th and 10th editions will be fine. Just find an inexpensive copy.

Also, we will be reading several novels, but I have not decided on all of these yet. I know I will be doing Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre and Jane Austen’s Persuasion, and probably Dickens’ Oliver Twist. Students must have copies of these, but any publisher and any edition will do.
