Madame Gates has over 28 years of teaching experience. She has taught French, Latin and Journalism in the Pawleys Island and Georgetown area since 2000. Earlier she taught French at Union College in New York, at the University of South Carolina and at Rutgers University. She also served as the Foreign Language Assistant for the French Ministry of Education (Lycée Camille Jullian) in Bordeaux, France. Laura Gates has published a book on Medieval Literature Soubz umbrage de passetemps as well as numerous essays on French Literature, and has spoken at several international academic conferences. She is a native Georgetonian.
She currently teaches French language and literature, Writing Lab and Journalism. In the past she has taught classes on the Old and New Testament as literature. She is the adviser for the Yearbook and school newspaper.
